Science Week 13th-17th March 2017

Our theme for the week was “Change”. We did experiments every day to explore how kitchen ingredients can change their state.

Some of our experiments worked well. Others weren’t quite so successful, so we were set a challenge for homework to research and make slime!

We also found out about the life and work of Charles Darwin.

Romeo and Juliet – play scripts

We have been looking at the play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ written by William Shakespeare. We have re-told the story using drama. We made ‘photographs’ of the key scenes.

Down with the Montagues!

Down with the Capulets!

Y4 The Battle of Hastings

During our Normans Enquiry we learnt all about the fight for the thrown between Harald Hardrada, Harold Godwinson and William the Duke of Normandy. In PE we had our own Battle of Hastings between the Normans and the Saxons – luckily the Normans won!

Y4 Norwich Castle Museum Trip

To round off our Celts and Roman Enquiry work we visited Norwich Castle. While we were there we met a Roman Soldier who showed us the equipment and techniques they used for battle. As well as his wife who talked us through some ancient Roman artefacts along with some replicas. We also met some Celtic women who invited into their roundhouse to tell us their way of life as well as showing us how to make our own Torks.

Y4 Science Week 2017

During Science Week Year 4 took part in a number of exciting experiments including: making parachute, lemonade and observing waxes change of state when heated. As well as learning all about the conservation of the Javan rhinos.

Y4 World Book Day

The children really enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters on World Book day. They also worked really well teaching and helping the Year 2s how to make their own Paper Dolls based on the book by Julia Donaldson.
