In Key Stage 2 we have two classes of each year group from Year 3 through to Year 6.We aim to give children the best possible preparation for their transition to high school. We strive for high academic standards, particularly in English and Mathematics, while encouraging children to become collaborative learners and responsible British citizens.Children are taught a broad and engaging enquiry based curriculum, usually having their English and Maths lessons in the morning and other areas of learning in the afternoons. Other subjects are integrated into cross-curricular enquiries so that children can study questions in more depth, apply their independent thinking and creativity, while acquiring the skills of life long learning. Special events, day visits and visitors coming into school enhance children’s learning. In Years 5 and 6 children have the opportunity to go on residential trips to North Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
We teach two European languages, Spanish in Years 3 and 4 and French in Years 5 and 6. All children in Year 3 learn to play the recorder and from Year 4 some children learn other instruments. Children also have opportunities to join in a wide range of lunchtime and after school clubs.
