Child Protection

This school is committed to promoting the health and welfare of all pupils. We are required by law to follow procedures laid down by the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board if we see signs which suggest that one of our pupils may have been a victim of abuse or if a child discloses any form of abuse to a member of staff.

Use of the procedures in this way is an obligation placed on the school by legislation and in no way infers that any parent/carer is being accused of wrong doing.

Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership

Operation Encompass at Hillside

At Hillside Avenue Primary & Nursery School we are working in partnership with Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Children’s Services to identify and provide appropriate support to pupils who have experienced domestic violence in their household; this scheme is called Operation Encompass. In order to achieve this, Norfolk Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub will share police information of all domestic incidents where one of our pupils has been present with the Designated Safeguarding Lead(s).

On receipt of any information, the Designated Safeguarding Lead will decide on the appropriate support the child requires, this could be silent or overt. All information sharing and resulting actions will be undertaken in accordance with the ‘Norfolk Joint Agency Protocol for Domestic Abuse – Notifications to Schools’. We will record this information and store this information in accordance with the record keeping procedures outlined in this policy.
