The Hillside pond has been given a thorough makeover, firstly a brand new cover was purchased.

The new iron framed grid allows the children to take a closer look at the pond, Friends commissioned the frame and it is embellished with iron insects – well worth a look.

Secondly, the pond got a really good clean last weekend when parents volunteered to undertake the task.

The pond was cleared of Parrots Feather weed, an invasive species of water weed which appears on the Environment Agency ‘hitlist’ of unwelcome plants! We will leave the pond to settle for the winter and hopefully ensure that the weed has been fully removed before assessing what needs to be done in the spring which will probably include some replanting. - Tracey Marsh
