In October, Year 5 pupils took part in a three-day residential trip. The focus was on the environment and team-work with the children working towards NOLA (National Outdoor Learning Award.) We visited the beach and pine woods to make sand sculptures and write poetry and based ourselves back at the site to look at invertebrate lives under water and in the woodland. We explored personal survival by making dens, lighting fires, gutting and cooking fish.
On World Book Day we came to school in our pyjamas, we shared our favourite books and read with our buddies in class 1BW.
During Science Week, Year 5 enjoyed a visit from the ‘Science Bus.’ – Year 7 students from Thorpe St Andrew School visited and lead a series of exciting scientific investigations for them.
This term the children in Year 5 have been learning about the bio-diversity of tropical rainforests and considering the importance of protecting them.
