Lunch Menus

Children in Reception , Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a Free School Meal under the governments Universal Free School Meal initiative. Parents of children in Years 3 to 6 may purchase a school lunch if required. The meals are freshly cooked by Harrison Catering Services in our school kitchen. The school operates a menu system, a copy of which is available below.

Lunch money is payable in advance on a Monday morning, either for the full week, or if possible for the term. (daily rate £2.30). Please send this to school in a sealed envelope or purse, clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and the days that lunches are required. If you are paying by cheque, please make cheques payable to ‘Broad Horizons Education Trust’. The school can advise if you feel you may qualify for free school meals for your child. If your child has any special dietary requirements please see the office staff.

Children may bring a packed lunch instead of a school meal. Please ensure that packed lunches are sent in a suitable lunch bag or container which is clearly named. Ensure that drink containers are spill proof.

Nuts should NOT be included.

Snacks

At morning break there is the opportunity for children to eat a snack. Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with fruit as part of the Government Fruit Scheme. Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 can bring their own snack to school. As we have been awarded ‘Healthy School’ Status, we ask that children bring healthy snacks to school (e.g. fruit, vegetables, sultanas, breadsticks, cheesy biscuits but not chocolate, sugary items or crisps).

Water

It is very important both for children’s health and for their learning that water is available for them to drink at all times. We ask that a named plastic water bottle is brought each day so that children can access their water in the classrooms and at breaktimes. These bottles should only contain water, no fruit based drinks and no squash please.
